MBA Student Integrated Management Projects
Integrated Management Projects (IMPs) are 10-week initiatives conducted by teams of MBA students. These projects focus on a challenge, issue, or opportunity identified by the project sponsor.
MBA student teams have a proven track record of researching and analyzing issues to deliver high-impact insights and recommendations to sponsors.
More than 80 percent of sponsors implement their teams’ recommendations or use the analyses to inform future business decisions.
Each project is scoped jointly by the sponsor and representatives of UC Davis. The key to sponsoring a high-impact project is identifying an important issue or opportunity facing your organization that can be analyzed within the 10-week timeframe.
The student team, guided by an experienced faculty advisor, collectively invests over 500 hours in the project and provides regular updates to the sponsor, incorporating feedback into their work plan.
Sponsor Benefits
- Access to a skilled, dedicated team of four to five students who leverage their combined academic and work backgrounds to tackle your business challenge, issue, or opportunity.
- Build strong business partnerships: Each for-profit project sponsor becomes a UC Davis Graduate School of Management (GSM) business partner. This partnership provides multiple benefits, including opportunities to showcase your company and engage with students and relevant faculty expertise.
Sponsor Responsibilities
- Engagement: A key element of a successful Integrated Management Project is the sponsor’s commitment to provide necessary data, information, and access to company expertise that the team needs to complete the project within the 10-week timeline.
- A suggested donation: The amount varies by sponsor type and size. As noted above, sponsors can also become business partners of the GSM.
