Carrie Beam

Carrie Beam brings 20 years of experience in analytics consulting, research and classroom teaching to the program. Her expertise includes data management and visualization, predictive and prescriptive analytics models, and communication of complex analytics materials to general business stakeholders.
She is a senior member of INFORMS and served as the chair of the 2021 and 2022 Franz Edelman Award for Achievement in Advanced Analytics, an international competition that has yielded projects topping over $300 billion in recognized benefits since its inception. She is a Certified Analytics Capability Evaluation (ACE) Coach.
Previously, she was a teaching associate professor at the University of Arkansas, where she developed and implemented classes on analytics, decision support, statistics, engineering management and Lean Six Sigma. She also taught quantitative methods in the MBA program at St. Mary’s College of Moraga.
She holds a patent in the field of mathematics education and has authored several peer-reviewed journal articles on subjects ranging from electronic commerce to engineering stakeholder management.
Beam earned her Ph.D. in industrial engineering and operations research from the University of California at Berkeley and her B.S.E. in civil engineering and operations research from Princeton University.
As director of analytic projects at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management in the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program, she taught practicum courses in which students learn project management, analytics techniques, and interpersonal skills as they deliver value to practicum industry partners. In 2024, she was named academic director of the MSBA program.
