The vision of the Healthcare Council is to inspire early and mid-career professionals to apply the tools and frameworks learned in business administration to healthcare and allied industries. Our goal is to provide exposure to different career opportunities and promote collaborative leadership.

Meet Our Board
Amna Haslam, MPH
Co-President
Amna is a proud UC Davis alumna and MBA candidate in the online program at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management. She is a passionate scientist and experienced collaborative leader with more than 15 years of public sector experience. Throughout her career, Amna has demonstrated a commitment to building strategic relationships to drive change while developing and implementing environmental and public health programs.
As a dedicated lifelong learner, she earned her MPH from the University of San Francisco, where she studied health policy leadership through the lens of cura personalis or care for the whole person. As a primary caregiver for her aging parents, Amna’s life experiences have shaped her passion for work that is in the service of others. Amna now serves as Co-founder and CEO of a health technology startup, Empowu. Her vision is to develop innovative solutions to help people lead healthier lives in alignment with care for the whole person. She strives to bring this lens of compassion and service to her daily life.
Amna is a geek at heart and grew up playing Super Mario Brothers on the Nintendo Entertainment System and building LEGO creations, which she still enjoys doing to this day.
Monique Fruitier
Co-President
Monique is a certified Sr. Project Manager (PMP) and IT Leader within the Innovation Technology department of UC Davis Health, managing enterprise-wide healthcare technology software and clinical interface projects. For over 20 years, Monique has built a successful and solid career in the Healthcare IT industry.as President & Executive Consultant of EHR Management, a software IT company. As a healthcare IT leader during that time, she became a preferred consulting vendor within the professional and client delivery space of healthcare IT, implementing electronic medical records, personal health records, interfaces and other third-party solutions for enterprise hospital systems and ambulatory healthcare clinics nationwide.
Monique’s MBA concentration is in Strategy/Entrepreneurship. She plans to graduate in 2025. Post graduation, Monique plans to work in a strategic executive leadership role, with an emphasis in Lean Six Sigma (TQM) and Innovation Management. She will also continue leading her strategic brand and social media management company, which is currently in development.
Monique is involved in the following professional organizations and UC Davis committees:
- PMO Chair, Sacramento Valley Project Management Institute (PMI)
- Treasurer, UC Davis Health IT Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee
- Member of the African American Faculty and Staff Association
- Member of the Women in Leadership Sacramento Club
- UCDH Member of Women in Technology (WIT)
In her spare time, she enjoys socializing, traveling, playing tennis, writing and playing the piano.
Allison Judy
Director of Programming
Allison Judy carries a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Westmont College, four years of experience as a chemistry educator in the public school systems, and a passion for women’s healthcare. She is pursuing her MBA to strengthen her ability to develop integrated solutions and curate accessible resources that elevate the patient experience. She will graduate in June 2025 with a focus on strategy and management.
Allison is a program manager for two local nonprofit organizations, the Center for Analytics and Technology in Society (CATS) and Hui International. CATS is directed by UC Davis professor, Hemant Bhargava and aims to provide insight into the transformative impact of analytics and technology in society. Lucy Morse Roberts leads Hui International in the effort to enhance the health and well-being of women, their children, and families through culturally sensitive and trauma-informed programs. Hui International’s current project works to address perinatal health inequity using technology.
Leadership positions at the GSM include Director of Programming for the Healthcare Council Club and Associate Director of Outreach for the Full Time MBA Ambassador Program. She also serves as a TA for core MBA courses.
Aside from professional work, Allison is a Pilates fanatic, walking enthusiast, and occasional bachata dancer. Her favorite pastime activity is meeting strangers over good food.
Reiya Sheth
Director of Membership
Reiya Sheth has a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from India and two years of experience working as a doctor. She is currently a full-time MBA student and will graduate in June 2025. During her time as a doctor, Reiya noticed that administrative tasks took up too much time, leaving less time for patient care. This led her to see the importance of using technology to help solve this problem in healthcare.
At the Graduate School of Management, Reiya serves as the Director of Membership for the Healthcare Council Club and as an Ambassador for the Biotechnology and Healthcare industries. Outside of her studies and work, she enjoys dancing, cooking, and swimming.
Varsha Yelamanchi
Director of Marketing
Varsha holds a Master's degree in Pharmacy and is currently pursuing a full-time MBA focused on Human Resources and Strategy. She has significant experience in HR Operations and Talent Acquisition within the recruitment industry. Passionate about advocating for women's and children's health, Varsha has volunteered with a non-profit organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to underprivileged women and children.
As the Marketing Director for the Healthcare Council (HCC), she aims to increase awareness of the healthcare industry and its opportunities, encouraging broader community involvement. At GSM, Varsha holds leadership positions as President of the Associated Students of Management (ASM) and Ambassador of Biotechnology for the Full-Time MBA Program. In her spare time, she enjoys dancing, cooking, reading, and traveling.
